Last night I had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Harry Potter Ville. We went to a fairly new restaurant called The Goat. The Goat is an old-English style restaurant that looks like a pub that could be found in Hogsmeade in the Harry Potter movie. Everything about it feels like magic. What is curious about this restaurant is that it is located right inside a complex of tall brick town-homes having walkways, walking paths, and small brick streets called the LC. Once you step inside the LC it is like going back in time to old London right down to the gas lit lanterns.
The interior of the Goat includes space at the front of the restaurant for a band or event that is scheduled weekly. When I entered to the Goat, one of the waiters greeted me immediately. I had the option to either sit outside in an area close to the pool, sit at the bar, or sit at one of the regular tables. I chose to sit inside at a round wooden table near to where people were playing pool.
What I like most about the Goat is that it is a very user friendly environment for couples or singles or groups. You can either go on a date and sit outside next to the pool or sit at the inside or outside bar, and, of course, you can watch sports on one or more of the many large flat screen TVs. If you are having a business meeting or just want a more private type of setting for conversation, you may choose to sit in an area at the back of the restaurant that is more quiet. The Goat is also a place to spend time with friends and family. Children are always welcome, and they can even enjoy the swimming pool area on summer days.
Apparently there are nine LC complexes located in the US which means there are nine Goat restaurants as well. Three complexes are located in TN: Murfreesboro, Nashville, and Mount Juliet; five in OH: Columbus, Dublin, Gahanna, Hilliard, and New Albany; and one in Louisville, KY.
The old English styled restaurant has one of the most completed Happy Hour Menu (M-F / 3-7 PM). My Happy Hour favorite day is the Monday Special – Beer and Wings. The flavor of the food is amazing and juicy. Portions are the perfect size, not extremely large or small… Every dime you spent on a plate is worth it. Prices on the Goat’s menu are usually $12-$22 (US).
These are the Boneless wings – they come in two portion sizes w/ four sauce options.

Last night I decided to try the pizza. Although the Goat is not an old time Italian restaurant, to my surprise the pizza turned out to be great! The flavor of the crust was amazing; it was thin and crunchy. The craft pizza that we ordered is called The Carnivore, which has following ingredients: Basil marinara, mozzarella, salami, capicola, pepperoni, pork belly, ham, bacon. The price of The Carnivore was around $15. I fell in love with the caramelized bacon they used. The size of the pizza is large, enough for two people to share.
In addition to the pizza, I ordered some appetizers called the “Ranch Nachos.” This is one of my favorite appetizers. The Ranch Nachos come warm, without an inch of dripping oil, and with a special house sauce that includes beer and cheese. The tortilla chips are ranch seasoned and cooked in olive oil and other ingredients included in this delicious appetizer are: Avocado, bacon, cilantro, and your choice of protein (chicken, pork or ground beef). As you might imagine, this is a great appetizer to share!
I you are trying to order on the light side and still have your ultimate appetizer, I would recommend ordering the Ranch Nachos (around $8) with the addition of chicken. This a delicious healthy choice!
Chicken Lettuce Wraps / Chicken Nachos / Main Squeeze Martini
I went out last night to a trendy place in Middle Tennessee called Bar Louie. Bar Louie is a Restaurant / Bar located in The Avenue, on Medical Center Parkway, and close to Interstate, I-24, a newly-developed area in Murfreesboro, TN. It is approximately 30 minutes from Nashville.
If you want to have fun with friends or go out on a date to a hip place this is the place to go. In Bar Louie you will find a modern and cool environment. Trendy music surrounds the whole place and sports are shown on surrounding flat screen TVs.
I would recommend going to Bar Louie for Happy Hour (M-F / 4-7 PM) to get the best deals on drinks and appetizers – signature Martinis are about $5.25. I ordered Chicken Nachos followed by delicious Chicken Lettuce Wraps. The Chicken Lettuce Wraps are a good option for those wanting to eat something fun and fresh and lower in calories.
This past weekend I went to BJ’S Restaurant Brewhouse in Murfreesboro – one of the 10 top growing cities in the U.S. – which is only 25 minutes down I24E from Nashville and is conveniently located just off Interstate 24E at Exit 76 coming from Nashville.
2455 Medical Center Pkwy / The Avenue / Murfreesboro, TN 37129
BJ’s is a good option for those wanting to experience a fun setting that accommodates the whole family and / or friends for an evening. This All-American casual-style restaurant has good service, spacious seating areas, and a cheerful and happy atmosphere. If you like craft beer, BJ’S has over 13 varieties … some of which have won North American Craft beer awards.
BJ’s is a great option for affordable, tasty appetizers and interesting desserts. The 24 page menu lists many appetizing dishes – starters, entrees, light bites, salads, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches … numerous gluten-free options … there is even a gluten-free Pizookie!
Happy Hour 3-7 PM has a variety of options including:
$3 Domestic bottles and Chips & Dip
$4 BJ’S Handcrafted Beers
$5 Dark Horse wines
$1 OFF guest Draft Beer
$6 BJ’S Brewhouse Burger* and Select Appetizers
1/2 OFF Mini Dip Dish Pizza
* From this menu, what stands out the most is the burger. BJ’S Brewhouse handcrafted burger is big and juicy. It is a good option if you want to upgrade your typical fast food burger for a reasonable price and size.
ALL DAY BREWHOUSE SPECIALS:
MONDAYS: Half OFF Any Large Deep Dish or Tavern-Cut Pizza
TUESDAYS: $3 Pizookies and Half-Price Wines
WEDNESDAYS: $10 Loaded Burgers
THURSDAYS: Full & Half Rack Rib Specials
My all-time favorites are the Brewhouse Specials, particularly the the Pizookie’s Special on Tuesday. The Pizookies are hot and freshly baked cookies topped with two scoops of ice cream and various toppings served in its own deep dish. It is by far the best cookie I have tasted in Tennessee!
For those who are dessert lovers this is MUST TRY. There are a range of Pizookies on the menu; some are inspired by southern desserts and others by delicious ultimate toppings. This is a unique creation by BJ’s and would be a great reason to stop by BJ’s in Murfreesboro.
Note: The original Pizookie is big enough to be share by two adults. There is also a smaller- size option, and a Pizookies trio (to be shared by three adults), and there is also a gluten-free Pizookie option as well.
Wine is also ½ price on Tuesday and goes well with the $3 Pizookie Tuesday special!
In addition, BJ’s offers lots of other options and variations – and even has an old-fashioned Handcrafted Root Beer Float – another one of my favorites that reminds me of days gone by.
The regular size Pizookie costs $7-$8 and is worth the price. Otherwise, I recommend coming in on Tuesday for ½ price ($3) Pizookies.
For chocolate lovers I would recommend the triple Chocolate Pizookies Ghirardelli; you cannot lose an opportunity to try this one … the explosion of chocolate in your mouth in your first bite will blow your mind (and probably your caloric intake for the day)!
